The Vision Behind Havdata

We developed Havdata to solve this problem. The idea originated from the pain points we observed in the fishing community—access to timely, clear, and accurate data was either difficult or impossible, creating stress for fishermen trying to do the right thing. We wanted to create a solution that simplified compliance by making critical regulatory data easily accessible in real time, anywhere at sea.

Fishermen must navigate a sea of regulations that change with the tides. Between national guidelines, regional restrictions, and specific requirements for vessel types, the sheer volume of information is overwhelming. Traditional methods of staying compliant—using printed manuals or relying on infrequent updates—are no longer effective in today’s fast-moving environment. We wanted to build a tool that provides fishermen with immediate access to the information they need, tailored to their specific operation, at the exact moment they need it.

1. Real-Time Data: Integration with the Fisheries Directorate and other regulatory bodies ensures that the platform always provides the latest data on fishing regulations, bycatch limits, and restricted areas.

2. Tailored Insights: We realized that no two fishing operations are the same. So, we made Havdata highly customizable—users can input their vessel type, fishing gear, and target species, and the platform adjusts the regulatory information accordingly.

3. AI-Powered Assistance: Rather than leaving users to sift through complex documents, we built an AI-driven chat feature that provides immediate, accurate answers to regulatory questions. This ensures that users can focus on their work while staying compliant.

Building the Prototype

The journey to the prototype began with understanding the workflow of our users—how they interact with regulatory data, what devices they use, and when they need the information the most. After conducting in-depth research and engaging with fishermen, we designed the prototype in Figma, focusing on a clean, intuitive interface that delivers crucial information with minimal input.

The prototype included real-time data integration, an interactive map for geofenced fishing areas, and AI-driven chat assistance. We wanted to ensure that the user experience was as frictionless as possible, even in the challenging conditions at sea.

Currently, Havdata is in its development phase, with the prototype complete and ready to be built into a full-scale platform. The next step is to secure funding for developer resources, allowing us to fully implement the real-time data engine, refine the AI, and integrate user feedback for an even better experience.
